The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman Game Board Activity

This is a reading game board activity based on the novel The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman.

This 16-page reading activity packet includes everything you need to conduct literature circles for The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman. This Newbery winning book is about an orphan named Jemmy. As the whipping boy, Jemmy must take the whippings for the royal heir to the king, Prince Brat. Jemmy plans to run away from the castle. Unfortunately Prince Brat beats him to it and takes Jemmy along on a journey- or does Jemmy take Prince Brat on a journey?

All you need as a teacher is some dice and little game pieces that can easily be made from a pencil eraser, paper, etc. Before the game begins, students will need to cut out the comprehension game cards that are included. It is best if the game is copied on cardstock but regular paper works fine too. Students enjoy this fun reading activity. Teachers will love how the students are not only having a great time reviewing the story!
