Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech Game Board for end of the novel fun

Game board activity based on the novel
Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech.
Common Core Reading Standards 1, 5

This is a two-page game board made specifically for the novel Ruby Holler by Newbery winning author Sharon Creech. Ruby Holler is a delightful book about a beautiful, mysterious place where one may discover that it’s never too late to be loved and hope is always nearby. Ruby Holler will take you on a journey of Dallas and Florida, and their experiences with being orphans. Mr. and Mrs. Trepid operate the Boxton Creek Home for Children, but will Dallas and Florida stay there? Or will their dreams take them to special place? Dallas and Florida have been shuffled between foster families and orphanages all their lives, longing only for a loving place to call home. Ruby Holler seems to change lives forever.

As a teacher, all you really need is some dice and little game pieces that can easily be made from a pencil eraser, paper, etc. Before the game begins, students (or you) will need to cut out the twelve game cards that are included. It is best if the game is copied on cardstock but regular paper works fine too. Students enjoy this fun reading activity. Teachers will love how the students are not only having a great time reviewing the story!
